Music Video Presentation

For our Media Course we were intended to present our music video idea in front of the class and tell about what concept we will be presenting in the music video. Here is presentation that we gave:

Chosen Idea Concept

For each chorus of the song there is going to be a different scene to it.

There are 5 choruses in total:

1. Movie: 7 Year Itch - Marilyn Monroe skirt scene

2. Movie: Romeo and Juliet - Balcony Scene

3. Movie: She's All That - Prom Stair Scene

4. Movie: Titanic - Drawing Scene (with the heart of the ocean)

5. In the 5th scene we would introduce the girl in real life instead in the movie screen (and that is how it ends)

The video starts out with a couple of guys walking in the street with jump cuts of them getting closer and closer to the camera.

We then see the characters going through the doors of their house so they could go and enjoy some movies together.

They go and sit on the couches while someone looks through multiple movies and stumbles upon The 7 Year Itch (0:33) which then the first chorus comes along and one guy starts fantasising about the main character of the film which is his true love.

We see that character is imagining himself in the movies and in real life he is completely spaced out and not responding to his friends action. In the end the friend completely obuse him like using his head as a rest for their beers, and etc...

We then go to the second chorus where he is playing out Romeo and Juliet  (0:55) in the balcony scene where romeo is after the girl and meets her by her balcony.

Then there is an instrumental break between 1:15 - 1:37, here we have one of the friends looking in the fridge to see that nothing is there so they grab out a pizza takeout menu to order.

Then the 3rd chorus comes in and that is where the do the She's All That (1:38) scene when the girl is walking down the stairs with her prom dress and the guy is stunned by her beauty.

The 4th chorus is from Titanic (2:01) and jack is drawing rose on the couch with the heart of the ocean

During that final scene the guys friends go away somewhere and leave him alone to day dream, and we see cutaways of the 4th scene to a car arriving which is the pizza delivery.

We see the pizza delivery person walking to the door without seeing their face and they ring the doorbell which wakes the guy up from his day dreaming.

He sees that no one is there to answer the door do then he gets up to answer it.

As he is walking to the door he is getting money from his wallet, as he opens the door he is still looking for the money and looks up to see that the pizza girl is from his imaginations and we end with a over the shoulder shot of him looking at her.

Star Image: Skillet

Skillet is a big rock band which is big on playing their music to the world, they are having many different types of tours around the world. They are considered a organic music group rather than a synthetic, the group is not big on performance but their main target is to spread their music to the world. They all work well together in the band even considering the fact that two of the band members are married to one another, the main vocalist John and Korey Cooper (rhythm guitar, keyboards, and backup vocals).



The band has a star image that would appeal to both the teen and adult audiences, although not everyone is able to tell this, but skillet is a Christian Rock band where there is a much deeper meaning in their songs. This will
attract a large portion of the christian community

Music Video Idea 2

Track Name: Rebirthing
Artist: Skillet

In this music video there would be a huge conflict between the artist and himself, in the video itself the character will act out as being isolated and trying to break out of his mental cages in order to be reunited with his girlfriend. The idea behind this video comes from the mental struggle of his relationship with his girlfriend which he wants to overcome in order to fix it. He does this by breaking one of his mental cages but he till has more obstacles to overcome, when he breaks through all of them he finally meets his girlfriend which ends the video.

One of the obstacles that the main character has to go through would be a type of maze of hallways which he is being lead by some sudden images of his girlfriend in order to find a way out of the maze.

To this music video there is also a performance part which includes the main artist being in a isolated room with only a few shadowed figures standing in the distance which are his band that are playing music. Later we would see the main artist in another dark isolated room where there is a glass wall separating him from his girlfriend, it gives the idea that he is so close but yet still so far to the end. In that scene there would be the harmonies being sang by both of the male and female artist.

The entire music video will be dark with some strokes of white light to signify hope for the artist, this will happen until the end where it would become bright to signify freedom. In post production the threshold of the video will be increased in order to have a nice black and white contrast.

Music Video Idea 1

Track Name: One Day Too Late
Artist: Skillet


In this music video idea there is a 50/50 split between the performance and the storyline in order to strengthen the idea of this music group being a organic rather than a synthetic band. Since the certain song is about regret I thought that it would be an interesting idea to show the things he regrets in a sequence that would start out with the ending and will end with the beginning (everything is reversed).

From the beginning of the video we would see the main character doing some kind of nice deed towards someone in oder to make the audience to think he is the nice and honest man while when further in the video we would see him being in a stretcher being taken to the hospital and he is seeing flashbacks of himself being a horrible person (there would be many examples through the video. In the end of the video we would see the protagonist being hit by a car or some other life changing experience. This will make the audience finally understand the whole story of the music video and it would be a like a bow on top of a present to finish it off.

On the other hand we would have a performance part where the main artist would be singing on a set of a hospital room and him recovering. This is maybe where we could bring the band on the set, maybe in the other band members would be laying in the hospital beds besides them playing their instruments while they are injured. While filming we could have the main artist singing backwards and doing some kind of actions and them later in the post production we would revers the footage to make him lip sing normally to the music e.g. spilling water on the ground which would become water going back into the cup which he had it spill from.

The Brief

Produce a promotion package for the release of an album, to include a music promo video, together with two of the following three options:

             

a website homepage for the band;

 

a cover for its release as part of a digipak (CD/DVD package);

 

a magazine advertisement for the digipak (CD/DVD package).
