Which Company Would Produce and Distribute my Thriller

Our thriller is about a couple which is on a run away from a group of people who are out to kill them. Through the story they get their car packet up so they would be ready to go on the run, until they had been interrupted by one of the bosses thugs in where the guy gets shot while the girl jumps out of the car. As the thug circles the car thinking that she’s right behind it but while the thug is in confusion the girl circles the car as well and shoots him. After that the girl knows that she has to carry on even without the guy, so to show some affection she goes and strokes the guys hair. After that she goes and leaves the guys body on the ground and takes the car so she could drive off.

So the problem that we are facing now is on who would produce this piece of work. There are a couple of possibilities for our thriller, one production would be Vertigo films and the other one would be BBC. I had thought about it but in the end I had decided on choosing Vertigo Films because…

Vertigo Films have had a lot of experience in the filming business, for example they have made movies such as Street dance 3D, Street dance 2, Monsters, and etc… Vertigo is a wonderful production company and I think that it could be a good production company for our thriller. Vertigo films was founded in 2002 which means that has some experience in film production it is also very successful in Britain, in 2010 it had been a good year for vertigo films where it released a action 3D thriller which had been Street Dance 3D. It had been in the top charts even beating Disney’s Prince of Persia and Step up 3D had become the most successful UK independent films of all time. I believe that they are really good for our thriller and what is a really good thing about Vertigo films is that on their website it is possible to submit a movie idea and see if they would take you.

Since our thriller is not going to be shown in the Cinemas it will be released on DVD, from then on we would be able to expand the film by showing it in different film festivals as well as might get a change to get it on Film 4.  I would also try to get our thriller on Netflix as well, the good thing about Netflix is that it is not only shown on the computer but it is also shown on the TV via Xbox, PlayStation, and even Nintendo Wii. In order to get our thriller expanded more it would be better to sell the thriller to different production companies so they could show it in their countries. By these expansions for our thriller we are able to exhibit throughout the world.

Facebook Page

For this Page we would be able to attract more people in watching our thriller and as well making a word of mouth buzz from the audience. By making this page on the social network we are able to spread out information about our film and about DVD releases so we could gain a profit from it. Also with this we could give exclusive information and behind the scene that only would be visible on the Facebook page. Another aspect that we are able to accomplish through this Facebook page is that we can connect with our audience and get them more involved with the production and the distribution with our thriller.

Location

Final Location:

For the setting of our thriller we had tried to find the best possible place to film our thriller. On the day of the shoot we had different locations on our minds, one possibility would be down in the art block where there is a car park filled with different cars. That had been a problem because it had felt that it had been too crowded and also there had been construction there so then there was the problem of the noise interference. As we looked over that area we had discovered another great place for the car to be parked and that had been the car park behind the car park.  In my opinion I felt that it had been the best place to shoot because it looked like there could be not so many interferences. As such a good place we had not been able to film there because that was the car park of Cosmo's brother, because of that Matt had said that we were not able to film at that location.

So we finally found our perfect location for our thriller which had been the little car park behind the filming studio at the containers. So as we chose the location we had to change our idea even more because only one of the cars could fit up there so it would be almost impossible to have the second car drive up there so we could film it.

Account of Shoot Day

We had started our day off by meeting in the editing suit; there we had gone through our thriller idea that we would be shooting today. We had realised that through our idea we might not be able to attract so many young adults as our target audience. In order to attract more people into watching our thriller we should more suspense, in our first idea we have a couple sitting in the car knowingly that one of them was going to die because of the girls nervousness, in our new idea we had changed that the couple are already on the run away from the boss while the boss is trying to get rid of them. This gives more action and suspense to our thriller because the audience is not able to tell what is going to be around the corner and leaves them in question.

Our full new idea is where the couple are getting a car ready so they could drive off, this had lead to her apologising to the guy for dragging him into this situation. As they had been ready to drive off they had been caught by on of the bosses thugs, this brings the audience to a shocking moment where they are left in confusion on what is going to happen. In the film we would show that the thug jumps in frame of the window, as he shoots he would kill the guy while the girl rolls out of the door. While the thug circles the car to check where the girl is, the girl circles the car as well, at that point of the scene she had shot him from behind. Then there is a moment of silence where she strokes the dead boyfriends hair to show affection, then after that she had thrown him out the car and drives off. This whole story leaves the viewer in confusion and they would be wondering what would be happening next.

For the location of the thriller we had gone out in search of several different possibilities for the shoot. Our thriller would be able to attract the average teenager to watch out film because we are able to create suspense and regret through making our thriller idea. In our thriller we had chosen to first start out with slow shots that turn to become quick short cuts during the action sequence to make the viewer feel more suspense. In the first shot we had opened with a slow tracking shot and that had made a wonderful opening shot.

We had started out with the woman’s clothes, we had decided for the girl to have something very stylish but also wearing red lipstick         to signify that danger is to come. For the guy we have him wearing a leather jacket to signify that he is trying to hide his past.

During the day of the shoot we had changed the cast list slightly; the main characters had stayed. All that we had changed was the side characters, which had been the change of Simon and Habeeb as the shooters and we had changed to tom from the set up department.

For our lighting we had only used natural light from the sun because this had been an external shoot. It would have been much more difficult to have lighting outside because it had been raining a bit and it could have damaged the equipment.

For the sound we don’t know so far in what exactly we would be using in the post, but we had used dialogue as well as the snow crunching sound when you step on the snow. We also have sounds of the car door closing and as well as the container closing.

My role of this shoot was to create a editor blog where to say which shots in the end have been successful and which ones turned out bad. In the shoot I also had set up the tripods and a bit of the camera handling. For the director we had switched from time to time.

The End result of the whole shoot we had come up with all the different shots that are needed to create a 1-2 minute long sequence, so I think that we accomplished the task to do so. I thought that I would’ve been happier if we were to do our first idea, I believe so because that we had been already with all the shots as well as all the people and thus being more prepared for the shoot instead of a shoot that we are coming up with the ideas on the spot.
